MANAGING PUBLIC RELATION IN EDUCATIONAL

A.  Definition of Public Relations
Public relations is a management function that is unique and to support the development, maintenance, common pathway between an organization and its publics, concerning the activities of communication, understanding, acceptance and cooperation, involving the management in the face of problems, helping management to be able to respond to public opinion, support management to follow and utilize change effectively, act as an early warning system to anticipate research trends and techniques of sound and ethical communication as the primary means.
The understanding of public relations management is a process in dealing with the planning, organizing, communicating, sertapengko-ordinasian seriously and rationally in Objective pencapaiant joint efforts of the organization or institution which he represents. And to realize that all things should be done by public relations in an educational institution. Must be prepared in a similar way and inform how to deliver new things to the public so that the whole society can be reached. B.  Types of Public Relations
Public relations can be divided into external public relations (PR to the outside) and internal public relations (PR into). Therefore, in the school known their publicity activities to the outside and into the publicity.
1.  External Activities
This activity is always associated or directed to the public or people outside the school community. There are two possibilities that can be done to directly (face to face) and indirect. External activities are activities not directly related to society through the mediation of certain media.


2.  Internal Activity
This activity is a publicity into, the target is none other than the school community is concerned that the teachers, administrators and the entire siswa.Pada principle, internal activities aimed at:
a.       Explaining about the wisdom of the organization of the school, the situation and development.
b.      Accommodating means and the opinions of the school community in conjunction with the coaching and development of the school.
c.       Can maintain a harmonious relationship and cooperation between people creating their own school.
Type of relationship between the school and the community itself can be classified into three types, namely:
a.       Educative relationship, is cooperation in terms of educating students, between teachers in schools and parents in the family. The existence of this relationship is intended to prevent differences in principle or even contradictions which can lead to hesitations establishment and attitudes in children.
b.      Cultural relations, the cooperative effort between the school and community that allow for mutual nurture and develop the culture of the community where the school is located. It required cooperation between school life and life in society. School curriculum activities tailored to the needs and demands of the development of society. Similarly, on the selection of teaching materials and teaching methods..
c.       Institutional relations, the cooperation between the school and the institutions or agencies other official, both private and government, such as the cooperation between the schools of the other schools, the head of local government, or corporations State, relating to repairs and the development of education in general


C.  Relationship Between Institutions and Public Relations
By making contact with the public relations facilitate the educational organization able to adapt to situations and environmental conditions. Educational institutions more easily put himself in the community in the sense of being accepted as part of the property of citizens. Educational institutions can follow the flow dynamics of the community environment.
In detail the benefits of the relationship with the public educational institutions are as follows:
For educational institutions namely:             
1.      Facilitate improve education
2.      Enlarge effort to improve the teaching profession
3.      The concept of the community of teachers / lecturers to be true
4.      Getting the correction of community groups, etc.
For communities namely:
1.      Know the things schooling and innovation
2.      The needs of the education community more feasible
3.      Distribute the need to participate in education
4.      Proposals against educational institutions
D.  Forms of Cooperation Institutions of the Community
1.      Relationship between the school with parents and community members. This relationship can shape an individual, can also be organizational
2.      School with the Alumni Relations.
3.      Relations with the Business / World of Work.
4.      Relationships with Other Agencies
